In October 1945, the Executive Board of TROGMBA granted permission for the ushers in the Association to organize the Ushers’ Convention with the following appointed officers: Bro. C. B. Chadwick, Sr. -President, Bro. George Eleby – Vice-President, Sis. Lula B. Gray— Secretary, Sis. Hattie Hunter-Assistant Secretary, and Sis. Rosie Carr-Treasurer. The original Churches were: First Baptist (Jacksonville), First Baptist (Kellumtown), Evening View, Marshall Chapel, Oak Grove, Sandy Run, Saint Phillips, Union Baptist, Washington Chapel, and White Oak. During the 23rd Annual Convention (June 13-15, 1969), Bro. C. B.
Chadwick, Sr., was named and honored as the founder of this Convention and Sis. Daisy L. Cummings was named and honored as Mother Usher for this Convention. On April 3, 1949, the first “One Day Session” was held at Washington Chapel. The “One Day Sessions continues but is held on the second Saturday of January of each year at the TROGMBA Headquarters Building. In 1968, the “two-day session” changed to “three days”. The Association started with two days, then moved to three days, and currently, there is a two-day convention.
Currently, the two-day convention is held on the third Friday and Saturday of June of each year at the TROGMBA Headquarters Building.
In 2020, the Association named its first female President-Deaconess Annette Johnson of J.T. Kerr Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.
The Mission of our Association is to promote Christian Fellowship and Inspiration among our Association Ushers, to train them in the art of church ushering, and to equip them for winning souls and expanding God’s Kingdom.
